Opposition Leader Bill Shorten says nothing the coalition government has done in the past two years is working.
Treasurer Scott Morrison is expected to reveal slower economic growth forecasts, bigger budget deficits and at least $5 billion of spending cuts when he delivers his mid-year review on Tuesday.
"It seems to me that the Liberals, who pride themselves on talking up their economic management credentials, don't seem to be taking Australia forwards. In fact they're taking us backwards," Mr Shorten told reporters in Sydney on Monday.
