Mitchell Moses could find out as early as Tuesday if he will be wearing blue and gold or black and gold for the rest of the NRL season.

The Wests Tigers playmaker's future remains up in the air as he pursues an immediate release to join Parramatta after his relationship with the club soured.

After the Eels snuck home 26-22 against the Tigers at ANZ Stadium on Monday, he admitted he didn't know what jersey he would be wearing next week.

Following the club's decision to pull a contract offer for the No.6, and instead focus its efforts on retaining James Tedesco and Aaron Woods, he asked for a release to join the Eels having already signed to play under Brad Arthur in 2018.

Coach Ivan Cleary knocked back that request and said he would consider it if Moses once again came to him and asked to be let go.

Asked where he would be playing next week, Moses told Triple M: "I wouldn't have a clue. I don't know what's happening. I'll find out tomorrow what's doing. I've got no idea."

Moses had a mixed outing against his future side, scoring the opening four-pointer however he threw a wayward pass which was scooped up by Michael Jennings and led to Semi Radradra's 69th minute match-winning try.

He said the last few weeks had wrought a toll and he was only now getting back to his best footy.

Cleary said while he had no plans to release his star No.6, he couldn't rule it out.

"I haven't changed my mind," Cleary said.

"I'm not sure. If a request comes in I will consider it. And that's what happens."

Elsewhere, Cronulla proved their premiership defence wasn't dead in the water with a comprehensive 28-2 win over Penrith, the second time in as many weeks they have kept their opposition try-less.

St George Illawarra held off a fast-finishing North Queensland in their 28-22 victory as Paul McGregor's side maintained their spot at the top of the ladder.

A Joey Leilua double fired Canberra to a 20-8 defeat of the Warriors while Jarrod Croker pulled off a contender for the try-saver of the year on Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

Melbourne got back in their winner's circle, downing Manly 30-26, however left Lottoland far from satisfied after a lacklustre defensive effort.

Brisbane snuck home 24-22 against a luckless Gold Coast after Matt Gillett produced a game-changing charge down in the final minutes to set up James Roberts' third try.

The Sydney Roosters snapped a two-game losing streak with a 24-6 win over Newcastle, who were once again left to lament a number of missed opportunities.

Josh Reynolds put his hand up for a contract extension, scoring a try and saving another in Canterbury's 24-9 defeat of South Sydney.
