Mother suspected in double homicide

A homicide investigation is underway in northern Victoria following the suspicious deaths of two boys.

Detectives are questioning a woman over the death of the boys, thought to be her sons, at a house in the Goulburn Valley town of Mooroopna on Sunday evening.

Police discovered the boys' bodies in the bedroom of a house in Kalimna Drive, Mooroopna, near Shepparton, about 190km north of Melbourne.

A 29-year-old Mooroopna woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Shepparton police station.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman could not confirm the relationship between the woman and the boys or the nature of the injuries suffered by the boys.

Police are awaiting the results of a post mortem to determine the cause of the two deaths.
