Motorbike rider dies in south Queensland

A motorbike rider has died and his passenger taken to hospital in a critical condition after their vehicle hit a tree in southeast Queensland.

A man has died and a woman has been taken to hospital after a three-wheeled motorcycle crashed into a tree near Hervey Bay in Queensland.

The accident occurred on Old Toogoom Road at Beelbi Creek at 3.30pm on Friday, police say.

The male rider died at the scene and his female passenger is in a critical condition at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with chest and legs injuries.
