A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash west of Townsville.

The rider, a Gulliver man aged in his forties, crashed into the back of a ute on Hervey Range Road after midday on Saturday, Queensland police say.

He died at the scene, while the driver of the ute was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The crash followed the death of a pedestrian north of Brisbane.

A 37-year-old man was walking on a road in Kippa-Ring when he was fatally hit by a car at 1am on Saturday.
