Matt Moylan admits he'll need to improve on his indifferent performance on his State of Origin debut if NSW are to force the series to a decider.
Blues coach Laurie Daley has maintained his faith in fullback Moylan for his side's must-win game two clash at Suncorp Stadium next week despite in-form Wests Tigers No.1 James Tedesco applying heat for his position.
While the Penrith skipper looked threatening in attack in the side's 6-4 loss to Queensland in Origin I, his game was marred by a couple of uncharacteristic errors under the high ball.
"Personally there's a couple things I have to fix up," he said.
"There were a couple of kicks I didn't defuse properly, I've been working on back at training, just getting it back in order."
NSW's attack failed to find top gear in game one however Moylan looked their most likely to score. He looked dangerous chiming into the backline on the left edge and if not for a Dane Gagai knock down, almost put Josh Mansour over for what would have been the match winner late in the piece.
However, he mixed the good with the bad, spilling one bomb and failing to field another on the full, inviting Queensland into prime field position.
Before Tedesco was ruled out of the series opener with a shoulder injury, he was considered a shoo-in to earn his first sky blue jumper.
Daley resisted calls to bring in the Tigers custodian, saying he wanted to give his side time to build.
"Coming into this camp, we realised we were going to have one less day of preparation because of the games (on Monday night)," Daley said.
"With one day less of prep, that's really crucial in an Origin campaign, so that's why it's important for us to have the same group of players there ... (Tedesco) is a good player. He's a really good player but having that spine off the back of four sessions is important for our continuity."
