MP feels Aust should pick type of migrants

Liberal MP Craig Kelly says Australia should impose restrictions on the type of migrants and not accept sympathisers of sharia law.

Federal Liberal MP Craig Kelly doesn't support Donald Trump's call to ban Muslims from migrating to the US, but he does think Australia should apply restrictions on newcomers.

Mr Kelly told ABC radio on Wednesday the controversial Republican presidential candidate's call was a "rather silly comment".

But he doesn't want people who believe women are "somehow second-class citizens" or who support sharia law migrating to Australia.
