Motoring Enthusiast Ricky Muir wants Type 1 diabetes sufferers to receive a special healthcare card ensuring access to medication and treatment for the illness.

The card would be available for any sufferer or those with dependent children suffering the disease, provided their income does not exceed $88,000, or $176,000 for couples.

The private bill, introduced to the Senate on Thursday, would provide benefits additional to those already made available by the federal government for diabetes sufferers.
