A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder after the death of another man in Melbourne two months ago.

Police were called to a Flemington home on March 18 where they found an unconscious 24-year-old who had been seriously assaulted.

He died in hospital the next day.

The charged man has been remanded in custody after facing Melbourne Magistrates Court.

Investigators are keen to speak to a man who called triple zero from a phone box on Pascoe Vale Road in Moonee Ponds on the night of the assault.
