Murder charge laid over alleged shooting

A 72-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a woman he knew in Queensland and then calling emergency services for help.

A man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a woman in southeast Queensland and calling emergency services.

Police allege the 72-year-old shot the 67-year-old woman, whom he knew, at Chambers Flat in Logan before 9pm on Friday.

He then called emergency services for assistance.

Officers went to the Alexander Court home and took the man into custody with the help of the police helicopter.

Emergency workers tried to save the woman but could not.

The man will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
