Murder charge laid over Qld stabbing death

A woman has been charged with murder over the fatal stabbing of a man on Macleay Island off Brisbane.

A woman has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a man to death on an island off Brisbane's coastline.

The victim, whose body was found at a home on Macleay Island on Monday, has been named on social media as 41-year-old John Windle.

A 41-year-old woman, who knew the victim, was on Tuesday charged with his murder and will appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.

It's believed Mr Windle suffered multiple stab wounds in the midday attack, with witnesses saying the pair was seen arguing in the street before the killing.

"Certainly a horrific set of circumstances leading to his unfortunate death," police told reporters.

"The early information is, yes they were known to each other, yes there was some domestic interaction between them for some period in the past."

Mr Windle's aunt, Eunice Mines, lives across the road from the crime scene and lamented a "waste of a life, a good life".

"He was here happy this morning. Now he's dead," Ms Mines told The Courier-Mail on Monday.

Other relatives and friends have posted tributes on Facebook.

"RIP uncle John Windle love you so much," wrote Stourm Nolan.

"Rip John I love u bro u did not deserve to go the way u did love ya always cous," Jason L Nolan wrote."
