Two-time major winner Andy Murray got exactly what he wanted out of the Hopman Cup in preparation for the Australian Open and is happy to confine further preparations for the season-opening grand slam to the practice court.
Murray struggled for much of 2014 with a shoulder problem, but has entered the 2015 season looking fresh and ready for a tilt at the majors.
The 27-year-old winner of the 2012 US Open and 2013 Wimbledon played in Abu Dhabi where he beat Feliciano Lopez and Rafael Nadal before heading to Perth for the Hopman Cup where he represented Great Britain alongside Heather Watson.
Murray beat France's Benoit Paire 6-2 7-5, Poland's Jerzy Janowicz 6-2 6-4 and then Australia's Marinko Matosevic 6-3 6-2 on Friday night at the Perth Arena.
As such the world No.6, a two-time finalist at Melbourne Park, feels no need for any more tournament play ahead of the Australian Open starting Monday week.
"For me this week has been good and I feel the conditions at Kooyong, while it's good to get matches, always gets extremely windy and I have found that tricky sometimes," Murray said.
"Instead of playing a match, one of the days I might use as a rest day to recover and hopefully I can get six or seven good days on-site before the tournament starts."
Murray's preparation was perfect in Perth, his British partner Watson did well to beat Australia's Casey Dellacqua on Friday night and even fill-in Australian representative Matosevic did well beating Paire before losing to Murray.
