Andy Murray feels the loss to Nick Kyrgios at the Hopman Cup is nothing more than a blip on the radar as he readies himself for an Australian Open assault.

PERTH, Jan 8 AAP World No. 2 Andy Murray says his a prolonged finish to 2015 has left no lingering effects and that he should be well prepared for the Australian Open later this month.

Murray played in the 2015 season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London and then guided Great Britain to an historic win over Belgium in the Davis Cup final.

He said from the Hopman Cup in Perth on Friday that all of the physical tests he has undergone indicate that he is absolutely fine and that he doesn't believe in mental fatigue.

"I don't really know what mentally tired means. I don't feel stressed out, just now. I feel pretty good," Murray said.

"If you tell yourself that you're tired and the end of last year was really long, the Davis Cup took a lot out of you, you're going to feel that way."

Murray again chose the mixed teams event in Perth, teaming up with Heather Watson, to fine-tune his preparation for the Australian Open.

He enjoyed straight sets wins over German Alex Zverev and Frenchman Kenny De Schepper.

And while he lost to rising Australian star Nick Kyrgios 4-6 6-1 6-4 the 28-year-old said he was happy with his campaign.

"It's been decent. There are some things that I could do better. I certainly served well this week, especially behind the second serve," he said after beating Zverev.

"I moved a bit better today; I hit the ball a little bit cleaner from the back of the court, which was good.

"To adjust to the conditions takes time when it is this hot, the middle of next week is meant to be very hot in Melbourne as well.

"I should be well prepared for when I start the Australian Open."

Murray will head straight to Melbourne from Perth to continue his preparations for the Open, where he has been runner-up four times in 10 attempts.
