Musical chairs may benefit Labor

Changes to federal electorates, triggered by population shifts across the country and within states and territories, could go against the Turnbull government.

GAME OF THRONES

* Victoria: Gains one seat to 38

* ACT: Gains one seat to three

* South Australia: Loses one seat to 10

* Total number of House of Reps members: up one to 151

* The number of seats has remained the same since 2001

* The Liberal-National coalition's numbers pre-election would fall from 76 to a notional 75 (loss in SA)

* Labor's numbers would rise from 69 to a notional 71 (gains in Vic and ACT)
