Myles off the hook for Hayne face rake

NSW star Jarryd Hayne doesn't want Nate Myles to be punished for an alleged face rake during Wednesday's Origin I win over Queensland.

Queensland prop Nate Myles has escaped punishment for raking his fingers across the face of NSW star Jarryd Hayne.

Myles was caught running his hand over Hayne's face as he was getting back to his feet to play the ball in the 20th minute of the 28-4 win by the Blues on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old forward was pilloried on social media for the incident and accused of attempted eye-gouging but the NRL's match review deemed it unworthy of a charge.

Hayne does not want it taken any further, saying it was a natural by-product of an intense, niggly game.

"It's Origin. Those things happen," Hayne said.

"It's nothing. For me, it's what you do.

"You do whatever you can get away with and he got away with that one."

Myles, a veteran of 32 Origin games, made just 67 metres and 21 tackles and will face renewed selection pressure following an underwhelming performance in a badly-beaten Maroons pack.
