Mystery around dead man found by Tas road

The body of a man has been found on the side of the road north of Hobart.

A man found dead on the side of a road north of Hobart was not killed in a hit-and-run crash but police have labelled the death as suspicious.

The body was found on the side of Colebrook Road in Richmond, 25 kilometres from Hobart's CBD.

"Preliminary enquiries suggest that the injuries are not consistent with a hit and run crash scene," Tasmania Police said.

They are treating the death as suspicious and an investigation is underway.

A post mortem will be undertaken on Monday with results to help police in their investigation.
