NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione has confirmed that NSW's most wanted criminal Malcolm Naden is 'behind bars'.
Scipione said he was glad the police were able to capture Naden after pledging to for so long.
'Today I'm pleased to be able to deliver on that promise', he said.
Naden was arrested in the New South Wales Upper Hunter after attempting to escape, police said, adding that he was bitten by a police dog.
The 38-year-old was arrested just after midnight (AEDT) after officers from the Tactical Operations Unit and Dog Unit surrounded him on a private property 30 kilometres west of Gloucester.
