Nagle to be honoured on NSW Open trophy

The NSW Open golf championship trophy is to be renamed in honour of Kel Nagle who died earlier this year.

Golfing great Kel Nagle is to have the NSW Open trophy renamed after him.

Golf NSW will hold a ceremony on Thursday to name the trophy the Kel Nagle Cup after the popular 1960 British Open champion who died in January aged 94.

Fittingly, it will take place in the Kel Nagle room at Sydney's Pymble GC, the club where he started to build a career that yielded over 80 wins worldwide, including three NSW Open titles.

The 2015 NSW Open will be played at Stonecutters Ridge course in Sydney from November 12-15.
