Nationals deputy leader Bridget McKenzie is still weighing up a switch to the lower house, but insists she's not out to roll Michael McCormack for the party's leadership.

Senator McKenzie has moved her electorate office into the heart of Indi in northeast Victoria, a seat held by independent Cathy McGowan, who is yet to confirm if she'll contest the next federal election.

"I haven't decided about whether I choose to run in the lower house seat or whether I remain as the state senator," Senator McKenzie told ABC radio on Tuesday.

"But I do make it really, really clear I'm not interested in challenging Michael McCormack for the leadership."

Asked whether she believed she was leadership material, Senator McKenzie pointed to the partyroom ballot which elevated her to the party's second in charge.

"If I didn't hold that view I wouldn't have run for the deputy leadership, but I have no interest in challenging," she said.

Mr McCormack has come under pressure in recent weeks, with rumblings about a potential switch back to Barnaby Joyce.

"I think Michael McCormack is doing an awesome job and we're delivering for the regions," Senator McKenzie said.

"People are looking across at the National Party and thinking: 'Leadership instability? It's just not there.'"

She said the Nationals' history showed the party was "incredibly boring" when it came to switching leaders.
