Adam Gibson says it's bizarre to be back in a Brisbane Bullets jersey after the returning NBL side's first training session in eight years.
The Bullets gathered for pre-season duties on Monday at their new headquarters in Carina on Brisbane's southside, a historic moment for a franchise last active in 2008.
"It's a little surreal," said Gibson, an NBL stalwart who began his career with the Bullets almost 11 years ago.
"I don't think it will set in until the whole group is here and we get close to the first game.
"It's exciting to see the new colours and the name back out there on a basketball court."
Assistant coach CJ Bruton took the session and will remain in charge while head coach Andrej Lemanis steers the Boomers at the Rio Olympics.
The Bullets have signed 10 players, although star recruit Cameron Bairstow is also in Brazil and US import Torrey Craig is yet to join the team.
"I think we have the right pieces assembled. They are great guys, firstly, they all played great roles on past teams," Gibson said.
Gibson, 29, has a minor ankle injury but expects he will be fit for Brisbane's first practice game against UCLA on August 29.
The Bullets will open the new NBL season on October 6 against defending champions the Perth Wildcats at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
