NBN Co has named the next 460 suburbs and towns to get the new-look National Broadband Network.
About 1.9 million homes and businesses across all states and territories are set to be connected by June 2016, the company says.
The latest rollout phase, unveiled on Monday, is the first to reflect the company's new multi-technology mix, which includes fibre-to-the-node and fibre-to-the-premises.
It follows the announcement in October of the first 140 suburbs to receive fibre-to-the-node, which marries fibre optic cables with Telstra's copper lines.
"Over the past year, we have carried out successful trials of a range of technologies, revised our build processes and are negotiating our partner agreements," said NBN Co CEO Bill Morrow.
"As a result of this work, we are able to provide forecasts that reflect the next phase of our network build."
Some 300,000 premises have been connected to the NBN. The plan is to connect eight million by 2020.
