She said she is still unsure of what the future will bring for her, but says she's "in no rush" to decide.
The announcement may come as a relief to the Labor Party, who hold Robertson by a very narrow margin. If Ms Neal had run as an independent, it would have been likely to split Labor's vote in the marginal seat.
The MP failed to win Labor pre-selection for the seat prior to the beginning of the election campaign.
Ms Neal says being the MP for Robertson has been the priviledge of her life.

She listed her achievements as an MP, saying she strived to improve the quality of life for residents of her federal seat.
Ms Neal says her biggest regret was not being able to carry out the plans she had for Robertson, particularly in regards to health reform.
"Politics is tough," she says.
"I worked hard and that's what matters in the end."
Ms Neal refused to be drawn on her past, including the 'Iguanagate' affair, in which she was accused of verbally abusing a bar manager at night spot Iguana Joes.
She also didn't comment on her marriage after her husband, NSW MP John Della Bosca, admitted to having an affair with a much younger woman last year.
