Nebraska and Iowa stocks rise, led by Union Pacific

Nebraska and Iowa stocks rose, led by Union Pacific and Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

The Bloomberg Nebraska and Iowa Index, a price-weighted list of companies with operations in the region, rose 3.00 to 721.56.

Union Pacific rose 1.50 to 97.74. Berkshire Hathaway rose 2,649.98 to 208,150.00.

In the broader market, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 12.58 to 2,081.34. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 93.33 to 17,776.91. The Bloomberg Nebraska and Iowa Index was developed with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 31, 1996.
