Australian Neil Robertson has crashed out of the China Open in the first round after a shock 5-3 defeat to Thailand's Noppon Saengkham.
Robertson, who won the event in 2013, compiled two breaks of 106 and one of 81, but that proved not enough for the 2010 world champion.
The 34-year-old fell 2-0 behind after Saengkham had made breaks of 81 and 67, while further breaks of 70 and 80 in the last two frames secured the world No.102 a big upset.
Current world champion Stuart Bingham cruised through to the second round with a 5-0 defeat of Cao Yupeng, Stephen Maguire beat Gary Wilson 5-3 and Scotland's John Higgins won 5-2 against China's Zhou Yuelong.
The China Open is the last ranking event before the season-ending World Championship in England, which starts on April 16.
