Netflix, Stan, Presto - which to pick?

With Netflix now launched in Australia, here is a breakdown of the different film and television streaming services now on offer.

Netflix has now launched in Australia, joining Stan, Presto and other film and TV streaming services vying for our attention - and money.

Here is a breakdown of the services, content and deals on offer.

NETFLIX - $8.99 a month for basic package, $11.99 for standard.

* American streaming service launched in Australia on Tuesday.

* Basic option includes single stream in standard definition.

* Standard package includes two streams in high definition.

* Offers hit TV series House of Cards, Mad Men, Downton Abbey and Homeland.

* Popular titles like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Parks and Recreation are not available

* Broad movie list with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and The Godfather films.

* Popular children's content also offered, including Disney movies, LEGO Ninjago, Power Rangers and Pokemon series.

STAN - $10 a month

* The Nine Network and Fairfax-owned streaming service.

* Has the exclusive rights to Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul and Transparent, starring Emmy winner Jeffrey Tambor.

* Breaking Bad, The Good Wife, Sherlock, Justified, Ray Donovan, Call The Midwife, Nurse Jackie, The Big C, Californication, Community and Summer Heights High among the other shows in catalogue.

* Viewers can register six devices and stream on three simultaneously.

* Advertised as having no lock-in contracts.

PRESTO - $14.99 a month

* Seven West Media and Foxtel launched the streaming service in January.

* It features a selection of their shows as well as some content from HBO and Showtime.

* Dexter, Entourage, Girls, Frasier, Nurse Jackie, Rake, Redfern Now, Summer Heights High, The Good Wife and The Sopranos among small-screen titles.

* Users can register four devices and stream on two simultaneously.

* TV or movie only subscriptions are also available for $9.99 a month.

* Advertised as having no lock-in contracts.

QUICKFLIX - $9.99 a month for subscription content

* Claims to have 60,000 movies and hit TV shows.

* Premium content like Game of Thrones, Orange Is The New Black, The Walking Dead, True Blood and the Newsroom have to be paid for on top of the monthly subscription. One episode costs $2.99 or around $30 for a season.

* Premium movies are $5.99 and viewers have a week to start watching them - once started, the film expires 48 hours later.

* Allows up to six devices, streamed on three simultaneously.

* Advertised as having no lock-in contracts.

EzyFlix - no monthly fee

* Prices vary but films can be rented from around $6 and bought for around $20

* Rented films can be watched 30 days after payment but expire 48 hours after started.

* TV episodes can be bought for $2.99 and entire seasons for around $30.

* Big name titles include House of Cards, Parks and Recreation, Community, Rake and Breaking Bad.

* Most shows are available 24 hours after their initial Australian premiere.
