Nathan Lyon and Peter Nevill will get valuable time to acclimatise to Kiwi conditions when they turn out next week for NSW in their Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia.
The key pair has been named in the Blues' 13-man squad for the match against the Warriors in Christchurch - the first Shield game to be played across the Tasman.
The match at Bert Sutcliffe Oval will give them and Warriors captain Adam Voges a valuable chance to get used to New Zealand pitches ahead of the Aussies' two-Test series against the Kiwis starting on February 12.
"It's good for those guys to get over there and have a crack at it," NSW paceman Trent Copeland said.
"Nathan Lyon can learn the shape that he can get in the air and whether the wickets turn or not.
"Two experienced guys in our NSW side - we're never going to say no to that. Hopefully, they can have an impact for us."
Ex-Test paceman Copeland is a chance to play his first Shield game in nearly two years after a lengthy layoff because of a back injury.
Spinner Stephen O'Keefe and captain Moises Henriques are still recovering from calf injuries while Nic Maddinson will lead the side out.
With five rounds to play, the Blues could move into the all-important top two with a win over the Warriors.
After their round-four clash with Victoria was abandoned due to the state of the SCG pitch, and the full six points were awarded to the Bushrangers, NSW are battling to make up for lost opportunities.
They go into their game with Western Australia, which begins on February 3, in third spot but face a tough month-and-a-half on the road to end the season.
As well as away games against Western Australia, Tasmania and Victoria, they are taking their final two home games to Christchurch and Coffs Harbour.
