A new $100 million school for 1500 students will be built in the South Australian steel city of Whyalla.
State government backing for the school comes as British steel magnate Sanjeev Gupta prepares to announce funding for a new jetty, as well as a new solar farm for his energy company Simec Zen.
The new school will replace Whyalla's three existing high school campuses with the build to be managed by the government through its capital works program.
It is expected to take its first students in 2022 with Premier Steven Marshall, who is visiting Whyalla on Wednesday, describing it as a significant investment into the future of the region.
"This is a major infrastructure project that will deliver modern, state of the art facilities for Whyalla students, create jobs in the local Whyalla community and contribute to the state's economic growth," he said in a statement.

The school will be designed to reflect modern educational environments and will focus heavily on supporting skills that lead to jobs.
The previous Labor state government also pledged to build a new school in Whyalla ahead of the March state election.
