Father of three, Troy Orner, was scared by the thought of his own children distracted behind the wheel and has created the 'Life Before Text' app with the help of a California company.
Once installed, parents can set the speed limit, enabling the app to block calls, texts and emails while driving.
And just in case teenagers are thinking of switching it off, parents are notified by email if the app is disabled.
