High Performance Sport New Zealand has named an accomplished Australian sports executive as its new boss.
Michael Scott will replace Alex Baumann as chief executive of the country's elite sport strategy and funding body, beginning in January.
Former Canadian Olympic swimmer Baumann departed last week after what is considered to be a successful six years in the role.
Currently CEO of Rowing Australia, Scott has 20 years' experience in high performance.
His is a former performance director at both British Swimming and Swimming Australia, while also having overseen the 2007 swimming world championships.
Before that, he was a director at both the NSW and Australian Institutes of Sport.
HPSNZ chairman Sir Paul Collins said Scott brings world class credentials.
"We are confident he will continue the evolution and success of our high performance system," Collins said.
"He understands what it takes to be the system leader but also brings the critical perspective of our partners, national sport organisations, as well as the high performance systems of Great Britain and Australia."
Pete Pfitzinger will hold the role in the interim.
Collins paid tribute to Baumann, whose work was emphasised by New Zealand's success at last year's Rio Olympics. Kiwi athletes won a record 18 medals across nine spots and also enjoyed further success at the Paralympics.
"Alex developed a world-class team and forged strong and critical partnerships with national sport organisations and bodies such as the New Zealand Olympic Committee and Paralympics New Zealand, without which our high performance system could not function at its peak," Collins said.
