English recruit Andre Savelio has suffered a suspected season-ending knee injury on his Brisbane debut in the Broncos' 16-6 NRL trial victory over Central Queensland Capras.

The 22-year-old forward lasted just 14 minutes before his knee buckled awkwardly in a tackle against the Queensland Cup side at Theodore on Saturday night in front of 3000-strong crowd.

Broncos assistant Kurt Richards was devastated for the former Warrington and St Helens second-rower who will undergo scans on Monday.

"Obviously it didn't look good on the field live," Richards told foxsports.com.au.

"Disappointed for him. He's come from England, trained for a couple of months and 14 minutes into the game that happens."

In another worry for Richards - who held the reins for Wayne Bennett on Saturday night - Brisbane centre Tom Opacic suffered a hamstring complaint in the 35th minute.

In some good news, giant 18-year-old prop Payne Haas impressed on senior debut for Brisbane, showing why he had been dubbed "Andrew Fifita clone" with some rampaging runs for the young Broncos squad.

Broncos winger Corey Allan bagged a try scoring double while impressive young forward David Fifita also crossed.

Scores were locked at 6-6 at halftime.

Brisbane will next take on Gold Coast Titans at Toowoomba on February 17.
