New China ambassador named

A career diplomat who helped seal three free-trade deals has been appointed Australia's ambassador to China.

The woman who led a trio of successful free-trade negotiations has been rewarded with a posting to Beijing as Australian ambassador.

Jan Adams is a career diplomat who headed the teams working on the trade deals with China, Japan and Korea.

Ms Adams previously served as Australia's ambassador for climate change and the environment.
