The federal government is set to introduce a fifth tranche of counter-terrorism laws.

Legislation lowering the age at which control orders can be applied from 16 to 14 will be introduced to parliament in the coming weeks.

Attorney-General George Brandis in a statement on Monday said the draft laws were developed in conjunction with NSW and other states and territories.
