New court date for NSW gangland killers

Brothers 4 Life siblings Farhad and Mumtaz Qaumi await a sentence hearing over the shooting murder of Sydney man Joseph Antoun.

A sentence hearing in Sydney for the two Brothers 4 Life gang members convicted over the contract murder of Joseph Antoun has been delayed a few days.

Mr Antoun was gunned down at the entrance to his Strathfield home in December 2013, shot four times through a wire screen door.

Brothers Farhad Qaumi and Mumtaz Qaumi were found guilty of murder earlier this year, after a judge-only trial in the NSW Supreme Court.

The Crown contended the Qaumis hired a hit man to carry out the crime.

The brothers refused to be brought into the Sydney courtroom to hear the verdict when it was delivered by Justice Peter Hamill in February.

Justice Hamill concluded the Qaumis accepted the contract to kill Mr Antoun in exchange for money related to the purchase of a kebab shop.

He suspected that Pasquale Barbaro, who was shot dead in Sydney last November, "may have stood behind" the man who arranged the contract.

Procedural issues were dealt with in court on Monday with the sentence hearing rescheduled for Thursday and Friday.
