Casino operator Crown Resorts has appointed two new non-executive directors to its board - the latest in a string of changes to the its leadership team this year.

Jane Halton, former secretary of the Australian Department of Finance, joins the board immediately, subject to regulatory approval, while Toni Korsanos, current chief finance officer of global gaming company Aristocrat, will join the board once her existing commitments cease.

The announcement is one of several leadership changes announced at Crown this year, following the company's decision to reduce its exposure to Macau and to focus on its Australian assets.

In January, just a year after stepping down, billionaire James Packer rejoined the board following trouble in China where some of Crown employees were detained accused of gambling crimes.

Chairman Robert Rankin stepped down at the end of January and was replaced by deputy chairman and former Sydney Morning Herald editor John Alexander.

Mr Alexander also assumed the role of chief executive in February, replacing Rowen Craigie who had been in charge of the casino operator for a decade.

Mr Alexander is now chairman, executive deputy chairman and chief executive at the Packer-controlled gambling giant.

On Tuesday, he said Ms Halton and Ms Korsanos would enhance the board's expertise and diversity, and its members were "delighted" by their appointments.

Crown shares were trading 15 cents, or 1.2 per cent, higher at $12.47 at 1306 AEDT on Tuesday.
