Eric Abetz and a second incumbent have held on to their places on the Tasmanian Liberal senate ticket and been joined by a fresh face.

Jonathan Duniam, the deputy chief of staff to Tasmania's premier, has claimed a preselection spot while Senator Abetz and upper house president Stephen Parry retained the top two spots at the next half senate election.

Party members met in Launceston on Saturday afternoon to cast their preselection votes.

Liberal Party state president Geoff Page said the inclusion of Mr Duniam, 32, reflects party renewal.

"This team is a blend of experience and new energy," Mr Page said.

Mr Duniam brings "youthful enthusiasm and experience in public policy", the branch president said.
