From the cruise ship death of Queensland mother Dianne Brimble to the Thredbo landslide that left 18 people dead, the State Coroner's Court in inner Sydney has dealt with some of Australia's most notorious police cases.
But after nearly five decades in action, the Glebe court and Department of Forensic Medicine facilities are being moved to a new $100 million complex in the city's west.
"The new precinct will not only provide a better and more collaborative working environment for staff but offer a more comfortable environment for grieving families," Health Minister Jillian Skinner said on Wednesday.
The multi-storey facility at Lidcombe will include three forensic laboratories that opened at the site two years ago, and is expected to open by 2020.
Ms Skinner said no jobs would be lost in the move.
"I expect there'll be growth in jobs actually," she told AAP.
