Apple has announced more diverse emojis, including a hijab-wearing woman.

Apple iPhone users will soon have another emoji to use, with a hijab emoji due later in the year.

The 'woman with headscarf' emoji has been previewed by Apple as part of new additional images that also includes a breastfeeding woman, a bearded person and a person meditating.

Reactions to the announcement were mixed, with some users welcoming it as long overdue.
