New lion cubs for Victorian zoo

In a first for Werribee Open Range Zoo, lioness Nilo has given birth to three cubs.

There are three new kings of the jungle at a Melbourne Zoo.

Lioness Nilo gave birth to three cubs in the early hours of October 20, a first for her and mate Johari and for Werribee Open Range Zoo.

Nilo and her cubs are off display in a special birthing den, with vets and keepers monitoring them closely via video link.

It will be several weeks before vets are able to weigh and determine the sex of the cubs, and six weeks before they are introduced to the public.
