After more than half a century with one manufacturer, the Australian Test cricket team's iconic baggy green cap is getting a new maker.
But purists can rest easy. It will still be made by an Australian company, in Australia and from 100 per cent Australian wool.
Cricket Australia has contracted cricket gear manufacturer Kookaburra to take over making the caps from Albion, the company which has supplied them for over 50 years.
Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland said the switch was a commercial decision after made after assessing offers from the only two companies which could meet its minimum criteria of strictly local.
"Receiving a baggy green is the highest honour in our sport, and we need to ensure that the quality that goes with this prestigious item is adhered to for years to come," said Sutherland.

Kookaburra will begin its contract by making the commemorative pink baggies for the New Year Sydney Test.
It will also take over the manufacturing of sunhats for the Australian international teams.
