Indigenous Employment and Economic Development Minister Julie Collins say the new jobs will be created in various media organisations, including SBS.
Arts Minister Simon Crean says the program will help develop a more diverse media workplace.
"By investing to create new Indigenous employment opportunities in the media and screen industries, we're not only diversifying workplaces, but investing in protecting and sharing our culture with many generations to come," Mr Crean said.
The Media RING Indigenous Employment Program will place the candidates.

Chairwoman of Media RING, Susanne Larson, says there are opportunities in film, television, newspapers and digital media. She says each individual will get tailored training.
The Media RING was initiated by Foxtel in 2008 and brings together many of Australia's major media organisations.
