Incoming veterans affairs minister Dan Tehan will have a "good look" at the cancellation of Anzac Day ceremonies at Lone Pine when he assumes his role this week.

The federal government last week announced the Lone Pine service would no longer go ahead, citing concerns about danger to visitors on rough terrain and extreme weather conditions.

Mr Tehan says as far as he can tell the decision was made for the right reasons, however says he'll have a "good look at it" and has invited his Labor counterpart David Feeney to attend briefings.
