One Nation has a member on the floor of Queensland Parliament for the first time in nearly a decade, with Liberal National Party defector Steve Dickson officially taking his place on the cross bench on Tuesday.
Mr Dickson, who announced his defection last month, informed parliament on its first sitting day for the year that he had been appointed Queensland leader of the party.
The Member for Buderim takes his place on a growing cross bench in the state's hung parliament, which also includes two Katter MPs and independents Rob Pyne and Billy Gordon.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk wasted little time in drawing the opposition's attention to Mr Dickson.
During her opening statements, the premier asserted that "only (her) government can deliver stability," which drew howls from the opposition.
"Well there's your member over there!" Ms Palaszczuk countered, referring to Mr Dickson.
