New priorities for energy investor

Electricity reliability, solar and renewable energy exports are top of the agenda for the government-backed investment body ARENA.

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency has launched a new investment plan outlining its priorities for almost $800 million of funding.

The four new priority areas include: delivering a secure and reliable electricity system; accelerating solar PV innovation; improving energy productivity; and exporting renewable energy.

"We want to demonstrate how renewable energy can add value to the electricity system while also minimising costs and maintaining security and reliability," ARENA chief executive Ivor Frischknecht said in a statement on Monday.
