New SA economic advisers to meet

South Australia's recently appointed Economic Advisory Council will meet for the first time on Friday.

South Australia's new Economic Advisory Council is to meet for the first time as part of Premier Steven Marshall's promise to grow the state economy.

The premier says the council brings together some of the sharpest minds across industry to provide advice to his new government.

"Today's meeting will set the agenda for ongoing discussions with business leaders about how we can best stimulate strong economic growth and jobs creation here in South Australia,'' Mr Marshall said.

"The Liberal government was elected on a clear platform to reinvigorate and grow our state's economy, through lower taxes and increased exports and investment."

The council has been drawn from a range of industry backgrounds including information technology, defence, banking and finance, education, tourism, mining and scientific research and development.
