New SA premier heads for the Barossa

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall is in the Barossa Valley to talk with businesses and community leaders.

Newly-elected South Australian Premier Steven Marshall is in the Barossa Valley as part of his government's commitment to reinvigorate the state's regions.

The premier is meeting with community members and businesses on Saturday, and says support for regional communities will be a key focus of every member of the government.

"My government will work for all South Australians, no matter whether they live in metropolitan Adelaide or in regional SA," Mr Marshall said.

"We took to the election a comprehensive plan for the regions to create more jobs and grow regional economies.

"There are exciting opportunities to further develop the Barossa's export links with our trading partners in Asia and elsewhere, while also growing tourism in the region with more visitors from within SA, interstate and overseas."

Mr Marshall's visit to the Barossa is his first regional trip since his full cabinet was sworn in on Thursday.

Among the key policies the Liberals took to the state election was a regional growth fund, a 10-year, $150 million program to support projects that unlock new economic activity.

The new government has also pledged to provide dedicated roads and infrastructure funding to regional communities using 30 per cent of mining royalties, estimated at about $750 million over 10 years.
