New senators will be pushing for changes to racial discrimination laws when they soon head to Canberra.
The Abbott government dumped plans in 2014 to change the meaning of section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act but broadcaster-turned-politician Derryn Hinch wants it back on the table.
"I want to scrap it and I tell you I'm offended and insulted by any legislation that says offend and insult anybody," he told ABC radio on Friday.
The senator-elect said he was approached by Family First senator Bob Day in February about supporting the push to repeal the section.
"This is one thing outside our seven policies that I will say now I'll support one thousand per cent," Mr Hinch said.

One Nation's Malcolm Roberts says the proposal also has his strong support.
Senator Brandis recently said he had no plans to revisit the issue.
Section 18C makes it illegal to offend, insult or humiliate a person on the grounds of race.
