More than a dozen Liberals and Nationals will be sworn into the new federal government ministry in a ceremony at Government House.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's second ministry in six months is set to be sworn in.

More than a dozen MPs and senators will be handed their new jobs at the official swearing-in ceremony at Government House in Canberra on Thursday.

Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove will preside at the ceremony.
Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce will officially become the deputy prime minister and his deputy, Fiona Nash, will be elevated to the cabinet in the new regional development and communications portfolio.

Their Victorian Nationals colleague Darren Chester will be sworn in as transport and infrastructure minister.

Steve Ciobo will become trade minister, replacing Andrew Robb, who is retiring.

Scott Ryan will take over as minister for vocational education and skills, and Angus Taylor as assistant minister to the prime minister on cities and digital transformation.

Alan Tudge will be sworn is as the minister for human services, taking over from Stuart Robert who was forced out of the ministry.
