The Trump administration is expected to announce "a new entry ban executive order" on Monday, the Washington Post says.

The order is expected to be a revised version of the entry ban that President Donald Trump signed in January, according to Saturday's Washington Post.

That executive order, which denied entry to citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries, has been blocked by a court.

The countries affected by that executive order were Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen

Administration officials have said Trump is mulling "a new, better-defined order".

Trump met with administration officials including Attorney-General Jeff Sessions, Secretary John Kelly and top White House strategist Steve Bannon at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Saturday.

Trump has staunchly defended the entry ban policy, saying it is needed to protect Americans from terrorists who could enter the US from one of the Muslim-majority countries named in the executive order or through the refugee program.

He has repeatedly said his administration is confident it will win the court case.
