New Zealand singer Lorde has bowed to backlash from some fans and cancelled her concert in Israel, according to a report in The Jerusalem Post.
It comes after an open letter was written by two New Zealand fans on website The Spinoff, calling on the 21-year-old songstress to cancel her show in Tel Aviv in June.

"The weeks prior to your tour announcement have been a difficult time for Palestinians. Particularly after the Trump administration’s decision to move the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem," the letter reads.
"In this context, a performance in Israel sends the wrong message. Playing in Tel Aviv will be seen as giving support to the policies of the Israeli government, even if you make no comment on the political situation. Such an effect cannot be undone by even the best intention and the best music."
Lorde responded with a message posted on Twitter on Thursday night, saying she was seriously considering the call to cancel the Tel Aviv show.
"Noted! Been speaking w many people about this and considering all options. Thank u for educating me I am learning all the time too (sic)," the message read.
Lorde said after much reflection and receiving many messages, she has decided to call off the concert.
"I've received an overwhelming number of messages & letters and have had a lot of discussions with people holding many views, and I think the right decision at this time is to cancel the show," Lorde said in a statement provided to The Jerusalem Post.
"I pride myself on being an informed young citizen, and I had done a lot of reading and sought a lot of opinions before deciding to book a show in Tel Aviv, but I'm not too proud to admit I didn't make the right call on this one."
Israeli promotion company Naranjah also confirmed the cancellation to the Jerusalem Post.
"Sadly we must announce the cancellation of Lorde's concert in Israel that was scheduled for June," Naranjah said.
The promoter said Lorde would announce it to her fans on Twitter soon.
Representatives for Lorde have yet to release an official statement.
The chorus of calls for Lorde to boycott the Tel Aviv concert increased in the last week, amid growing condemnation of the United States decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
The US found itself diplomatically isolated earlier this week when 128 countries supported a non-binding resolution against the Jerusalem decision.
Lorde said she is disappointed that she won't be visiting Tel Aviv this time.
"Tel Aviv, it's been a dream of mine to visit this beautiful part of the world for many years, and I'm truly sorry to reverse my commitment to come play for you. I hope one day we can all dance," she said.
