Brisbane's Ben Nguyen is the first locally based fighter confirmed for the next Australian UFC card in Adelaide in December, with plenty of others clamouring to be on that card.

Nguyen fights former flyweight title contender Wilson Reis at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on December 2, in a battle between the 11th and seventh ranked contenders respectively.

American based Brazilian Reis lost a title fight last year to UFC superstar Demetrious Johnson and was also beaten in his next bout by Henry Cejudo, who recently deposed Johnson.

Nguyen was born in South Dakoka in the United States, but now resides and trains in Australia.

He had won four of his past five before losing to current fifth-ranked Jussier Formiga on the last Australian UFC promotion in Perth back in February.

Nguyen has good memories of the Adelaide venue, having won there on his UFC debut back in 2015.

A host of leading Australian fighters have expressed interest in fighting in Adelaide

Among them are the recently contracted Jim "The Brute" Clute, who is still to make his UFC debut.

Also keen to fight in South Australia is the 10th-ranked heavyweight contender Tai "Bam Bam" Tuivasa.

The hard-hitting Sydneysider displayed his enthusiasm by putting up two posters on his Instagram account, showing the date and pictures of himself and two other world-ranked fighters, No.7 Junior Dos Santos and No.9 Marcin Tybura.

Australia's sole UFC champion, middleweight title holder Robert Whittaker, is currently injured and won't be fit in time to fight in Adelaide.

Sydneysider Alex Chambers will fight Brazilian Livinha Souza in a women's strawweight contest in the latter's home city of Sao Paulo on September 22.
